.......Along with the practical instruction about diligence in work, I find an application for the care of my soul.  The whistles of self interest grow naturally within me, while the fruit that pleases God required constant weeding and watering through prayer, confession, and obedience to theLord.  Without these, the soil of my heart will become choked with the thorns of trivial pursuits and greed.....

A Lesson Learned: Do not become so consumed with fulfillment of our self-interests in our natural lives that we neglect God's desire to fulfill His purpose in our spiritual lives.  We need to spend just as much time and more pursuing God's will and purpose for us as we do building a business, writing a proposal, or doing a project for school or work. 

Pleasing God spiritually will open doors for us to be able to accomplish our natural goals.  We need spiritual wisdom and direction in our spiritual affairs which gives us direction for our natural affairs.  Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4.  When I started my home-based business I found myself spending countless hours on the internet, reading, searching, trying to find several avenues of marketing the business, but I know it was God letting me know that I need to spend just as much time reading, searching and finding avenues to tell people about Him. So now, before I start on my business, I start with Him. Whether it's reading a Bible passage, a spiritual passage, a prayer. He is the one who gives me the power to get wealth, so I need to put Him first.  I'm grateful for all that He has done for me and will continue to do.

Are You Moving Forward or Just Spinning Your Wheels?

At church yesterday, during my Pastor’s sermon, he mentioned spinning your wheels. He told the story about how his wife’s jeep had gotten stuck in the mud and he tried everything he could to get her jeep out the mud, until finally he had to just let the mud dry. He talked about how the jeep was just spinning its wheels but not going anywhere. I’m truly thankful for the insight that God has blessed me with. I’m thankful that I can hear a small passage, word or phrase and He gives me a whole message.

I began to really think about ‘spinning your wheels.’ You know there have been times in our life and maybe even now where we are just spinning our wheels. Time is moving forward, but we’re not. Going through the motions of a daily routine but not progressing. Just like the wheels on that jeep was going in a forward motion it wasn’t moving. I began to think even harder and apply this to my own personal life. Although I was truly grateful and thankful to be blessed with a job, I was only spinning my wheels. I went to work religiously, on time every day, did the same routine, but I wasn’t making progress. I knew there was something bigger and greater for me to do. Although I had a positive impact on a lot of my coworkers, I knew that couldn’t be my final destination. I knew I had the capability to learn and do so much more. I knew there was more to life than just going through the motions. I don’t want to live a life of doing enough just to get by, because just enough isn’t enough.

Ask yourself, is there something more I can be doing in life? Am I really making progress? Am I putting myself in a position to physically, mentally and spiritually move forward? Or am I just ‘spinning my wheels?’

Faint Not-Your Reward Is Near

Faint Not

And let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not. Galatians 6:9

This is a very true verse and it’s something that we can all apply to our personal lives. Anything that is worth having is worth working for. It may take finances, long hours, pounding the pavement, traveling, talking, doing presentations, etc. But if we remain committed, dedicated, persevere and not quit, you will reap those rewards. Regardless of what the situation or circumstances, I tell everyone, my faith is not shaken. I’m going to remain positive, committed and dedicated. As long as I’m making moves in the right direction and the motivation of my heart is pure, I know I will be rewarded in due time.

Just think about certain situations in our lives where we wanted to quit, but we knew we had to keep going and things fell right into place. What if you had quit, what if you threw up your hands and said forget it? Now there will be certain situations where you may have to take a step back and reevaluate your strategies, but don’t quit. If there a desire in your heart to do something positive, do it. You don’t know who is watching and who is waiting on you to do what you need to do. You may be the push they need.

Many people miss out because they quit. They got weary, tired, disappointed and discouraged. We all have gone through it and have quit. In any business you start, it takes WORK! You have more appreciation for the things you work hard for, versus if it came too easy. You have to market, get your name and face out there, talk to people, email people, advertise, etc., especially if you truly believe in the service or products you are offering. The turnaround may be slow and breaking even may seem far away, but don’t you quit!

Good Morning! I hope that everyone is have a great day so far. Today I want to talk about attitude. It is extremely important in your personal and business life. Growing up my aunt would say 'your attitude determines your altitude.' This is something that has stuck with me throughout life and I have passed this knowledge on to my daughter.

I think the phrase is self-explanatory. Your attitude in life has a great impact on how far you go in life. I have a teenager and we all know they can be 'attitude central!' I explained this one scenario to her: Let's say there's a position available in the company and the hiring manager has a choice between two people. One person has all of the credentials for the job, and has been doing a great job, but no one really wants to deal with that person unless they have a question or need something and even then they will try to find someone else to help them. This person knows their job very well but their attitude is not the greatest. Every time someone asks them a question, they respond with a short tone, people feel like they are always bothering this person and this person speaks to them in a tone that makes them feel like 'you should know this.' They know it all and then some and don't feel like you can teach them anything. Then you have the second candidate: This person has most of the requirements for the job, they perform their job duties well with the knowledge they have. They are always willing to help and have a teachable spirit, they want to learn more so they can be more of an asset to the company. They are easy to talk to, their tone is pleasant and if they are upset, you really wouldn't know it. People don't mind coming to them for help, they are easy to talk to and get along with. Who do you think would get the promotion?

When you project a positive attitude it will show in your tone of voice, in your body language and in your countenance. People don't mind helping you achieve your positive goals in life when you are willing to listen and learn. I have always tried to show myself to be a friendly person, because that is my character. I smile often and laugh a lot and try to share my smiles and laughter everywhere I go. When I got laid off my job, I was able to say good-bye to some of my coworkers. Their faces immediately dropped in disappointment. I found out a lot of people were very upset when they found out I was laid off. I considered this to be a blessing that I was able to have a positive impact on so many people. It was great that people hated to see me go versus people being glad I was gone. The manager told me if I needed anything, or saw any other positions available, I could always call.
