I hope everyone is enjoying their afternoon! It's pretty calm around these parts, as the old folks say. I'm up getting some work done. I'm slowly making my way back to the marketing world. I'm learning to pace myself, take a break grab a snack, watch a little TV. All of these things are important to recharge your battery and to prevent burnout. Pace Yourself!!

Greetings to all on this GREAT Wednesday evening. 

I've been away for a while, but I'm picking myself up and pressing on. Anyone who has read any of my posts knows that I only intend to speak from the heart when I'm trying to encourage or uplift someone. I tell people that sometimes you have to encourage yourself because not everyone is going to understand you purpose or journey and it's not for them to understand it. They can't fulfill your purpose for you, nor can they travel your journey in your place. I do my best to speak the truth, especially when it comes to myself and I know that I have to stop procrastinating because my testimony is needed. Whether you want to know where I have been or not, I'm going to tell you anyway, because while my story may not apply to you, it may help someone else. The truth of why I've been away is because I was BURNED OUT! It wasn't due to being extremely busy although my toddler does keep me busy, but the truth is I burned myself out! When I first started my home-based businesses, I would work from about 9am to midnight EVERYDAY and even on some weekends! I won't necessarily say this is a bad thing, because it takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice to build any business. You're trying to make a big wave in a sea of hundreds of thousands of home based businesses by making your presence known. You're trying to brand yourself and stand out in the crowd, but the thing we must realize is the world wasn't built in one day and neither will your business, I don't care how many thousands of dollars you are promised to make within a week. You still have to let people know that you are there, they still have to click your link, they still have to sign up. I'm not saying it's impossible, just know you will certainly WORK! Operating a home business is great! It provides a lot of freedom that we all want and need, but in order to maintain that freedom, our businesses must grow and produce 'financial fruit.' I know some may say, well that's negative. Well some things are not negative but just truth! I realized I had burned myself out when I seen a post on my FB Newsfeed. It was a quote by Oprah, I can't remember the exact quote but she was saying we have to take time to recharge our battery. If we keep going without taking time to recharge we will loose our momentum, which is true ESPECIALLY if our business or businesses didn't yield the way we wanted it to.  When I read this, it was like a light bulb had went off in my brain. So that's the problem Carla 'you burned yourself out.' If you want to get the maximum use out of your light bulbs, every once in a while you will need to turn the light OFF! By doing this you can extend the life of the bulb. When operating a business or businesses, sometimes you have step back, take a break, go for a walk, grab a snack, read an article or a book, get on the computer and do some non-business related things, schedule your blog posts a few hours in advance. The bottom line is, you have to take the time to recharge or else you will just burn out. I can admit it. I didn't want to read or post any blogs, I didn't want to advertise, I didn't even want to get on the computer. I would get on my phone and post a few things or share a few stats, but I really didn't do anything business related. Did I fail? Absolutely not! Now that I know what the issue is, I know how to go about regrouping. It may feel like I'm starting over, but that's okay. I know I need to pace myself and more importantly take the time recharge! 

You Must Get UP!

Happy Monday!! I hope everyone's day is off to a great start and if not, the day is NOT over. YOU can still make it a great one on PURPOSE!

Just sitting here encouraging and motivating myself. After not pushing as hard as I normally do over the weekend I know that I must keep it moving. I can't stop and I must push with the same determination and motivation I had in the beginning. I must get UP! I found that the longer we stay out of a routine, the harder it will be do start again. Have you ever started a fitness program, changing your eating habits and when you first get started, you're like a bullet! Full speed ahead, motivated, determined. Can't nothing stop you, taking no prisoners, get out of your way! Then something happened, maybe you didn't get the results you wanted the first couple of weeks, something came up, you ate that pie, cake, ice-cream. I don't think there's anything wrong with a slice here and there but you just went in! You got disappointed, discouraged, so then your everyday regimen turned into every other day, then every two days, every three days, every week, and then you just stopped altogether.  Sound familiar? It's the same way when we start our at home business or businesses. We're doing it! We're posting every 10 minutes, joining every marketing group we can, blogging, creating press releases every day! I do understand sometimes things happen beyond our control, but we all know that there have been times when we really didn't get the results we wanted and we slacked up. Sound familiar? Well you don't have to raise your hand, but I'll definitely raise mine! I believe that if we had just kept up that momentum and kept going, a breakthrough was right there! But because we slowed down, we will never know and then it gets harder to get back into the swing of things because it has become so easy to 'not do.' Well, we have to get UP! Get back into the race and don't slow down! We know that anytime we slow down, eventually we will quit. I'm not telling you to neglect your home and responsibilities, but in order to achieve the results you want, you've got to keep going.

Where's My Walking Dead Fans!!!

Happy Monday Fabulous Readers!!! I hope all is well and BLESSED this great Monday! It's a brand new week, a chance to make your week great on PURPOSE!! I'm still standing and STILL SMILING because I know a BLESSING IS COMING!

Alright, where are my Walking Dead Fans! I must the say the Season Premier was AWESOME!!! I mean it was a little slow-dragging in the beginning, but ohhhhhhh did things get a little CRAZY!!! It's always awesome so see Michone! If she don't get an award for her role, somebody playing! The girl don't have to speak a word, just the way she handles that sword! Chilling!! The girl is BAD! Ok so what was up with the little green/dirty looking lady Rick came across in the woods? I thought she was some special kind of walker, you know look somewhat human, talk human, that kind of thing. I said well maybe she green from all of that rotten food and animal carcasses she been eating. I'm sure those impurities can take a toll on your skin, I'm just saying. I just couldn't figure this chick out! Turns out sista girl had some ISSUES!! So it turns out she was feeding a HEAD! OOOOOOOKKKKK! It was sad when she killed herself, but Rick got just a little, wee bit too emotional for me. Fast forward to when they went 'shopping' at the Big Stop. I mean dude pushing a cart through the dark store like he at Wal-Mart! Then obviously, he has a 'taste' for liquor. Well that 'taste' almost cost him his life! Bet you will think next time before picking up a bottle! But this scene was so full of edge-of-your seat action! but the BEST part was when it started RAINING DEAD! The dead falling through the roof of the store! Dang! I watched some of The Talking Dead and they were saying they built that set specifically for that scene. Well that's some heck of engineering. It was sad that one of the new guys got his leg munched on and didn't make it back, but hey, it happens. The scene that set it off was when story time Patrick got sick, and just WHAT made him sick? MMMMMMM Then this boy done coughed ALL in the water container, collapsed as human Patrick and woke up as "Dead" Patrick, so to speak, and THEN it ends! AWWWWWW DANG!! Now this is really going to be crazy. I mean I'm sure they fix the baby's bottle with that water Patrick! I know you were taught to cover your mouth when you cough! So the question remains, just how did he get sick and how many more people will get sick? Well, I guess we will have to wait until next week to find out! Alright, so let's talk about it? One Day The Advice You Take Will Be Your Own

Happy Middle of The Week! I hope that everyone is enjoying their day on PURPOSE! I've been away for a few days. I had to step back and reevaluate, research, re-strategize and here I am, back in the race. Many of you who have read my posts know that I always do my best to write from the heart, because if I speak from the heart it will touch the heart. I learned a long time ago that God blessed me with writing as an outlet. I prefer to write because I usually don't forget what I had to say. But even through writing, He has also developed my verbal communication (I still prefer writing though). I also learned that the motivation and encouragement you give others, sometimes you find yourself in a position where you have to encourage and motivate yourself. The advice that you give to others to keep praying, pressing and pushing with perseverance, you find yourself in a position that you have to do the very same thing. In order for us to teach others, we have to first become students ourselves and by our experiences, I believe more people will accept what you are saying because you're not talking about something that you read or heard but something that you have been through and come out of. That is the key, in the midst of you going through did you keep praying, pressing and persevering until you came out? The past few days I found myself in this very same position. God knows that I desire to not just be a great mom, step-mom, wife and friend but to be able to make sure my household lacks nothing. I'm aiming for that Proverbs 31 woman. I am blessed to have a husband that loves me and supports me in whatever decisions I make and for that he knows that I've got his back. 

My month of September didn't yield any 'financial fruit' and yes I was disappointed to the point of tears. I didn't 'work' as hard as I usually do for a few days, I had to make some decisions I didn't want to make and I was really starting to lose hope. Although I felt this way I still continued to pray, because no matter what it looks like, my faith is NOT shaken. Today I decided alright Carla, you've been down long enough, get up, get back on it! It's still new, it's only been a couple of months and you're still finding your way. So I did just that. I got up! I fed my little miss, got on this computer, put on some uplifting spiritual music and I'm back at it again. A few lyrics of a song by Marvin Sapp came to mind and it says 'this not the time or the place, just believe keep the faith, gotta learn how to wait, keep holding on....' In the beginning he says this is not the time to question your faith....this is not the time for giving up.....this is not the time to throw in the towel....' I think of this experience as the 'refiner's fire' In Zechariah 13:9 it says "And I will bring the third part through the fire, Refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, And I will answer them; I will say, 'They are My people,' And they will say, 'The LORD is my God.'" Every test has it's purpose and a lesson to be learned. I know that if I keep on going, persevering, not giving up I will learn the lessons I need to learn and I will shine as pure gold. 

We will all have moments where we want to throw in the towel, we are human, we have feelings and emotions, but sometimes we have to sit on those feelings and get even more determined and with a 'no matter what' attitude, KEEP IT MOVING! So if you've ever given good, sound advice, there will come a day when you have to take it yourself.

As I have posted before, I have three online businesses and I work all three of them equally. Some of you may also have blogs, online businesses or sell hand-made items and today I'm going to share some of the marketing platforms that I use.

IBOToolbox. This is a FREE marketing platform in which you set up your profile and network with others. You get points for creating press releases, posting to your wall, commenting on other posts etc. This site receives THOUSANDS of visitors daily. When you write a press release (250 words) or more you get 100 points for original content and 50 if it's not original. You can then convert these points to credits (at the credit center) and have ads running on your profile. People request to be your associate, which I accept all associate requests. The more points you have the more 'stars' you receive. You have to be active in order to maintain those stars. Check out IBO Here

I have also joined a site called Syndication Express. This is where people can get major exposure for their blogs or their articles. Terri Pattio is the owner of this site and she is truly amazing! She offers great advice and doesn't mind helping you build your business. When you go to the site to create a profile, you must use your real name and a picture of YOURSELF. There are many great people in this group and the exposure will be great for anyone with a blog or a business. Check out Syndication Express here

WAHM (Work At Home Mom) This is where I found my first business opportunity Xpress Healthcare.
This is a huge website with tons of information for work at home moms and dads. You can advertise your business, post your social links, get advice and MORE! In order to advertise your business you must have 30 post and be a member for 15 days. They also have certain rules that apply when you're posting or advertising so please be sure to read the instructions. Check out WAHM here

I'm also part of several Facebook Groups where I advertise my businesses. Actually I found my second business SoyL Scents and my third business So Pretty Jewelry-Kitsy Lane in these groups. I recommend you join Get More Facebook Comments This is a place where you can get more visits to your Facebook pages. How it works: You click on the rotator at the top of the page. Whichever FB page it lands on you can browse, like the page or a comment and share. After you have done so, you would then post that you liked, commented or shared a page or photo and ask them to add your page. This has been very helpful to me.

I am also part of Women in Business 2013 a group of great ladies sharing and encouraging one another.

What Is Your Product or Service is another advertising group

Blogs ONLY This is another place where you can get more exposure to your blogs. You can't post any splash pages or advertisements. You can only post links to your blog.

Another tool I have discovered is FIVERR. I'm sure you have ALL heard about this site, where you can get some really good services for $5.00. Each order is called a 'gig' I have ordered three gigs so far and I have been pleased with the results. I have some more advertising I need done so I'll be ordering again.  I usually look for the ones with high ratings but I'm sure the services of the newbies are good too. They will guarantee the work, but the results are not guaranteed, but for $5.00, you really can't complain.

Another site I discovered was EZ Craft Show This is an online 'mall'. This is a place where you can sell your items online like if you were at a vendor show/trunk show/flea market. They have several online 'shows' throughout the year. They have one going on now through October 16th. You would buy a 'virtual booth' for $10.00 you can display 10 products, for $25.00, you can display an unlimited number of products. The rule is they won't accept any more than two vendors from one company. If they already have two Mary Kay Consultants and you are an MK Consultant, you wouldn't be able to advertise.

Been thinking about renaming my blog to something a little more 'remembrance friendly.' I've had this name for a while now, but I want to have a little more control over design and features, and although Blogger has been AWESOME, I think it's time to make a change for the better. So I'm trying to think of some new names that I think would fit my style and personality. I was thinking about From The Heart, Busy Blogging Moma, Super Busy Moma. Just tossing a few ideas around. Give me your thoughts!

Wealth Without Wisdom Produces Waste

OH YEAH IT'S THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK! I hope everyone is having a FABULOUS Day ON PURPOSE!

This thought came to me a while ago. Wealth without wisdom produces waste. The Bible urges us to get wisdom! We need wisdom to make sound decisions in life or else we're just going in circles. King Solomon's dream he could have asked for anything in this world, but he asked God for a wise and discerning heart to distinguish right from wrong so that he could be a good ruler. I Kings 3:1-15 He could have asked for riches and honor, but he was unselfish and asked for something far greater and priceless. God blessed him with things he didn't ask for because of what he asked for. He was unselfish! He didn't want anything for himself, but something that would benefit many.

This needs to be our prayer daily, that we gain wisdom and understanding as we carry out our daily lives. Without wisdom, we are lost, making foolish mistakes that could have been avoided. How many times has our elders given us good sound advice and we didn't take heed? They were sharing their wisdom. Not because of what they had seen or heard, but because of what they had experienced themselves. People do many things to make money or become rich. We all want to be well-off. Me myself, I don't need to be filthy rich, just let me be more than comfortable. But whatever God blesses me with, I want to have wisdom. Wisdom to hear His instructions and plans. So many people win the lottery, and I'm talking about millions, and end up broke within a year! Where is your wisdom and discernment? You don't need a 15,000 square foot house unless you're moving your whole neighborhood in it. Sure buy a nice home, car, travel, make sure the kids are set up for college, but some people just go haywire. A million dollars in the hands of a person without wisdom is like pouring water in a cup with a hole in it.  We have all had our foolish moments and because of some of those moments we have experienced, we gained wisdom to know not to do it again. Wisdom is priceless! It guides and leads you and leaves you with no regrets!

Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction;
    pay attention and gain understanding.

    still tender, and cherished by my mother.

One thing out of many things my aunt taught me was 'don't be no fool for no man. Go to school, get your education and make your OWN money!' Yes, he was raw and uncut, didn't play no games and let you know just how she felt! Another valuable lesson they taught me was 'always learn how to do more than one thing, so if one thing don't work, you'll always have something to fall back on.' This has stuck with me for a long time, although I didn't finish college, I did take up a trade of doing hair. I went to cosmetology school, graduated got my license and then decided, I don't want to do hair for a career. Now my first love has always been computers. I am more of an end-user, I don't know any of that code stuff, all of those numbers and letters make my eyes cross! But, because I do know how to operate a computer, I was blessed to always be able to find a job. A few months ago I decided to take up Medical Billing and Coding. I did complete the first half of the program, but wasn't able to finish. I'm not disappointed, I still have my books and my notes should I decide to go back into it. A couple of years ago, I also took a Real Estate Licensing Class. Although that class was not the easiest, I completed it. My point is, I have something under my belt that I can always fall back on.

Because this advice has stuck with me, I am doing the same thing in my three home businesses which I can attribute to being taught 'don't put all your eggs in one basket.' I am equally dedicated to each of my businesses. I believe in what I'm doing and the products I have to offer. They help people to save money, look pretty and brightens their home. I work hard through prayer, faith and perseverance. I look forward to success because I am taking action. Knowledge does not good if you don't act on it. I heard a Bishop say, 'Good ideas never die, they just pop into someone else's head' It's time out for thinking about it and just doing it. If you don't do it and someone else does, you can't blame anybody but yourself!
